Our Environmental and Indigenous Justice Campaign
In the South Sound Street Medics, we take a holistic approach to radical community care. Most recently, this has included our Environmental and Indigenous Justice Campaign, where we support Indigenous environmental justice causes. Indigenous environmental justice is at its core radical community care, not just for Mother Earth, but for the physical, cultural, and spiritual health of Indigenous people, the original caretakers of Mother Earth.
As a part of this campaign, we have worked with multiple different resistance camps fighting against mega-corporations looking to mine or build oil pipelines on Indigenous land, which would result in disastrous ecological impacts, physical and mental health complications, increased rates of missing and murdered Indigenous women, and threats to Indigenous food and cultural sovereignty. All of these effects are closely tied to individual and community health. We support these people and groups by providing them with street medic training, know your protest rights training, basic herbal medicine training, and how they can form their own street medic collectives.
So far, through this campaign we have been able to help those at Thacker Pass, Nevada fighting against lithium mining, and those in Minnesota fighting against the Line 3 oil pipeline. We are regularly working on this project, but we need your help to continue, please consider donating to our Earth Justice fundraiser Here on our Facebook and keep an eye out for updates on our campaign to share with others.
